John E. Janosko

Retiree was WWII vet, St. Joe’s, Legion member

---- — John E. Janosko of 255 S. Myers Ave., Sharon, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening (4-27-10) in his home after a brief illness. He was 82.

Mr. Janosko was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Dixonville, Pa., a son of Adam and Anna Senchisin Janosko.

He moved to Farrell as a child and was a 1945 alumnus of Farrell High School.

Following his graduation, he served in the European theater with the U.S. Army during World War II.

John retired in 1992 as a store room truck driver from the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant, where he was employed for 45 years.

He was an active member of St. Joseph Church and belonged to American Legion Post 299, both Sharon.

Earlier in his life, John and his family enjoyed spending time and camping at their cottage at Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio, and Bayshore-on-the-Lake at Pymatuning; and camping in Niagara Falls, Florida and Allegheny National Forest.

Surviving are: his wife of 60 years, the former Laura Knowles, whom he married Feb. 11, 1950, in the former St. Joseph Church, Sharon; five sons, Jack Janosko and his wife Lisa, Transfer; Paul Janosko and his wife Sue, Pittsburgh; Michael Janosko and his wife Angela, Harrisburg; Robert Janosko and his wife Diane, Sharon; and Thomas Janosko and his wife Stacey, New Market, Md.; nine grandchildren, Elane, Lesley, Lisa, Lori, Michael, Maria, Matthew, Jennifer and Becky; a great-granddaughter, Alexandra; a sister, Irene Bresky and her husband Rich, Hubbard; a sister-in-law, Rosemarie Janosko, Hermitage; a brother-in-law, Joe Astone, also Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Astone; and a brother, Edward Janosko.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honors rendered by Sharon Honor Guard.
