A funeral service will be held Monday for James H. Elliott Jr. of Sharon. He passed away at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after an extended illness. He was 85.
Mr. Elliott was born Sept. 14, 1924, in Sharon to James H. Elliott Sr. and Anna Frazier Elliott.
James attended Hickory High School, Hermitage.
He worked for the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant for 44 years, retiring in 1987 as a blacksmith.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sharon.
James served in the Army during World War II and belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage; and American Legion Post 299, Sharon.
He was a member of the Polish Home Lodge 866; Fraternal Order of Police, Sharon; and the Polish National Alliance bowling league.
His wife, the former Sophia M. Peidle, whom he married Aug. 15, 1952, survives at home.
Also surviving are: his daughter, Judith L. Taylor, Hermitage; two sons, James H. Elliott III and his wife Brenda; and Phillip A. Elliott and his wife Kim, all Sharon; his sister, Dorothy Sagenich; and his brother, Gerald L. Elliott, both Hermitage; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alice Berwing; and two brothers; Roy and Bill Elliott.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday (5-3-10) in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Richard Roberts, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Sharon, officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage.
Burial: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
