Hall-of-Fame bowler, coach owned Sharpsville lanes

---- — A funeral service will be held Wednesday for Robert L. Sayers of 7148 Kane Road, Transfer. He passed away at 11 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, in his residence with his family by his side. He was 58.

Mr. Sayers was born Jan. 20, 1952, in Salamanca, N.Y., to Robert J. and Clara B. Remington Sayers.

Bob is survived by his wife, the former Linda Egelsky, whom he married Nov. 4, 1978.

He had worked 38 years as a cad/cam coordinator at Parker-Hannifin Corp. Bob also owned and operated Sharpsville Bowling Center.

He was a member of St. John’s Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Sharon.

An avid bowler, Bob was inducted into Mercer County Bowling Hall of Fame on Feb. 27 of this year. He most enjoyed working with and helping the youth bowlers as a coach. He was involved in the high school program from its inception.

Besides his wife, Bob is survived by: his mother, Clara Sayers, Warren, Ohio; two daughters and a son-in-law, Michelle and 1st Lt. Paul McMahon; and Nichole Sayers, all Transfer; and a sister and brother, Lorrie Sayers and Thomas Sayers, both Warren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Terry Sayers.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday (5-5-10) in St. John’s Orthodox Cemetery Chapel, Hermitage, preceded by a brief service at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home by Monsignor Michael Polanichka.

Interment: St. John’s Orthodox Cemetery.
