Jamestown man retired as sheet metal worker

---- — A funeral service will be held Tuesday for Ralph W. McLaughlin of 105 Erdice Road, Jamestown. He passed away at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010, in St. Paul’s, West Salem Township. He was 87.

Mr. McLaughlin was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Greene Township to Ralph Seldon McLaughlin and Alice Louise Fausnaught McLaughlin.

For 30 years, he was a sheet metal worker for Stanfanak and Sons in Farrell, retiring in 1984. Until 1972, he worked as a farmer.

A Navy veteran, Mr. McLaughlin served as an AMM 2-c during World War II.

He enjoyed visiting with neighbors, friends and family. Ralph also enjoyed flying and had his own airplane.

His wife, the former Nina Helen Youngblood, whom he married Nov. 6, 1948, passed away Nov. 18, 1999.

Surviving are: a son, Jerry A. McLaughlin, husband of Rae Marie, Greenville; a daughter, Alice L., wife of Tom Walker, Jamestown; two granddaughters, Sherry M., wife of Jeffrey Hall, Autryville, N.C.; and Amy L., wife of Jonathon Good, Hope Mill, N.C.; and two grandsons, Brian J. McLaughlin, husband of Jennifer, Erie; and Scott E. Walker, husband of Melanie, Venetia, Pa.

He also leaves six great-grandchildren, Morgan L. Hall, Taylor M. Hall, Ryleigh F. Good, Abigail Good, Landon Walker and Hailey R. McLaughlin.

Besides his wife, Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Grace Fritz; and three brothers, Carl, Raymond and Glenn McLaughlin.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today (5-3-10) in RANDALL FUNERAL HOME, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday (5-4-10) in the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Sadler, chaplain of St. Paul’s, West Salem Township, officiating.

Interment: Park Lawn Cemetery, Jamestown.
