Charles ‘Chuck’ A. Werner

Werner Design owner was avid outdoorsman

Charles “Chuck” A. Werner of 1298 Sharon-Hogue Road, Masury, passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at 10 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2007, in Lucasville, Ohio, while visiting with his son and family for Easter. He was 67.

Mr. Werner was born July 26, 1939, in Sharon to Vincent C. and Teresa Bauer Werner.

He was a 1957 graduate of Brookfield High School and attended Youngstown State University.

Mr. Werner was employed as a draftsman at General American Transportation Corp.’s former Masury plant until 1984 and then for W.B. Plotts Co. of Warren, Ohio. In the early 1990s, he started his own business, Werner Design Services, that operated until his death.

Mr. Werner was an active member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, and was involved with its Cursillo program. He also was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 3984, Masury.

He served in the Air Force Reserves 910 Airlift wing.

An active outdoorsman, Mr. Werner was a member of the National Rifle Association, National Wild Turkey Federation and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

He bowled with the Wednesday Night Sharon Automotive League and the Sacred Heart Bowling League at Thornton Hall Lanes, Sharon.

Mr. Werner enjoyed farming, hunting, reading and playing cards. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his camp, Camp Triple Trophy in Tionesta.

He is survived by: his wife of 35 years, the former Carole Griffith, whom he married Feb. 12, 1972; his two daughters, Tricia Thomas and her husband Eric and their daughter, Maddie Lee, Masury; and Colleen Werner, Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons, Vincent Werner and his wife Kaymoura and their daughter, Makenna Nicole, Cortland, Ohio; and Daniel Werner and his wife Leighanne; and their son, Teagan Daniel, Lucasville.

He is also survived by a sister, Ann Nicolls, Hermitage, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Werner was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Nicolls.
