NEW CASTLE — Anne Marie Bender of 3345 Wilmington Road, New Castle, passed away Wednesday morning, April 28, 2010, in Jameson Care Center, New Castle. She was 94.
Mrs. Bender was born Sept. 10, 1915, in Farrell, a daughter of Michael and Regina Eckhardt Reinnerth.
She was a former employee in the office of the U.S. Department of Agriculture in New Castle.
Anne attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, New Castle, and was a avid bowler until the age of 92. She also belonged to the Jameson Sewing Circle, Wimodausis and Eintracht Singing Society.
She won four medals in the Pennsylvania Senior Olympics. Anne loved gardening, walking and spending time outdoors.
Her husband, George G. Bender, whom she married Sept. 27, 1939, preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1982.
She is survived by: four children, Edward G. Bender and his wife Diane; and Dale A. Bender and his wife Marlene, all New Castle; Ronald R. Bender and his fiancée Janie Rapier, Youngsville, N.C.; and Georgia Anne Hadley and her husband Dean, Kimberling City, Mo.; a sister, Joanne Schuster, New Castle; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Hilda Snyder, Matilda Lenigan and Frieda Fairchild.
