Signs could fix Rt. 60 problem at affordable cost

Hopefully I can provide a simple and less expensive solution to the “problem” involving the interchange proposed for state Route 60 and Route 318 interchange.

Thirty years ago I drove for McLean Trucking Co. We did not make turns in West Middlesex. To access 60 south we would ramp onto 60 north and go to Interstate 80. We would then do a double loop around the cloverleaf and ramp on to 60 south.

PennDOT could post signs at the state Route 18 ramp on Route 60 south, prohibiting turns into West Middlesex. Large trucks would be instructed to use the double loop to access Route 318 on 60 south.

Trucks running south on Route 18 would be prohibited from making turns in West Middlesex. They would be instructed, with proper signs posted somewhere around Tam O’Shanter golf course, to use 60 south to 318.

Signs cost a few thousand dollars. Ramps cost millions.

Hopefully, someone at PennDOT will at least give this a try.
