Police say Pine Township man used hidden camera to film children

PINE TOWNSHIP

State police say a Pine Township man hid a camera in the bathroom of his mobile home and with it made DVDs of nude and partly nude girls, some younger than 13.

According to the arrest affidavit filed in the Worth Township office of District Judge Lawrence T. Silvis:

Police found the web cam and homemade DVDs on the personal computer of Jeffrey Craig Bowser, 44, of 1320 W. Main St., after being tipped off by a Grove City High School teacher’s aide who said a student told her she had seen the pictures on Bowser’s computer.

The student said the pictures included her in the shower, several other young girls in the shower, and Bowser engaging in oral sex with a boy.

The boy told police that he began visiting Bowser after he was released from prison in 1999. The boy, who lived in Florida for three years, said that on several occasions Bowser fondled him and performed oral sex on him and in one instance when he was 11 attempted to sodomize him, though he was able to get away.

Police said they found the web cam hidden under clothing in Bowser’s bathroom and connected by a cable to his computer. Police took three computer towers, hard drives and numerous DVDs and CDs from the residence in Park View Mobile Home Park. Some of the DVDs were marked with girls’ names that showed them in full or partial nudity and other DVDs contained child pornography depicting girls younger than 18 or prior to puberty performing sexual acts.

Bowser, who was arrested Friday, was charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, sexual abuse of children involving a video camera, possessing child pornography, and indecent assault.

He was arraigned by Silvis and taken to Mercer County jail after failing to post $75,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
