The Trustees of Conneaut Lake Park are beginning the replacement of the 650-foot waterfront boardwalk in Conneaut Lake Park.
Park Restoration LLC is to begin demolition on Saturday. Low-maintenance composite materials will be used in rebuilding the decking and railing. The park is starting to go green by replacing the lighting on the boardwalk with LED or solar fixtures. Park benches will also be recycled, low-maintenance composite materials.
The trustees and Park Restoration are asking for the public to help fund the work. Donations are being requested through the “Board by Board” Campaign. One board will cost $100 and the name of the donor will be laser-engraved into the decking. The park is also taking donations for park benches and handicap ramps.
Donations may be deposited at any Mercer County State Bank or dropped off at Conneaut Lake Park office or the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Make checks out to “Conneaut Lake Park – Boardwalk.”
The 117-year-old park will be opening Memorial Day weekend with rides and events. The Beach Club, Down-Under and the Hotel Conneaut will be also be open.
