GROVE CITY

As a result of an energy audit last year, Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV is undergoing a $1.49 million upgrade to their Grove City office to improve efficiency.

Dallas-based TAC energy solutions guaranteed an $11,900 annual reduction in the unit’s utility costs for the Grove City building after the project is completed in August, according to a news release.

The renovations include updated heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, new lighting, and repairs to the roof.

The education service agency for Mercer, Butler and Lawrence counties is nearly draining its capital reserve fund to pay for the project, Director of Business Services Robert Barber said. He said the cost includes $1.28 million for labor, materials and things like permits, while he remainder of the total includes costs for the analysis, engineering, construction management and equipment training.

The unit has been located in the office since 1971, said communications director Virginia Moore, and this is the first major overhaul to the building.
