A Farrell man pleaded guilty Tuesday to shooting at a man at a Division Street convenience store in December.

No one was hit in the shooting.

Dana Maurice Roye, 29, of 811 Ravine Place, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault — a second degree felony — before Common Pleas Judge Christopher J. St. John for firing two shots at the man, said Assistant District Attorney William J. Moder III

Michael Campbell said in a preliminary hearing that he had won a fight against Roye earlier in the day Dec. 7, a few blocks away at Kirsch’s Tavern on Roemer Boulevard in Farrell.

Then, while Campbell was at McQuaid’s Sunoco with his brother at about 9:30 p.m., Roye pulled up to the pumps and yelled out the driver’s side window at Campbell from ten feet away.

When Roye pulled a pistol, Campbell said he ran. He avoided the gunfire and waited for Roye to leave on the other side of the convenience store.

Police said the store cashier and customers were in Roye’s line of fire.

Roye was picked up Dec. 11 by members of Mercer County’s Critical Incident Response Team in his home.

On Dec. 26, all Roye’s charges were dismissed when witnesses couldn’t be found to name him as the shooter. Those charges were filed again about a week later, and he was picked up a second time.

Charges of attempted homicide and three counts’ reckless endangerment were dropped in exchange for Roye’s guilty plea.
