Men from Sharon halfway house accused of sexual assaults

SHARON

Two females allege they were sexually assaulted Saturday night near the Shenango River in Sharon after being stalked by two men they knew.

One of the alleged victims was a minor, Sharon police said in a criminal complaint filed with District Judge James E. McMahon.

The men are both residents of Community Corrections Center at 300 W. State St., Sharon ’ a halfway house.

According to the the arrest affidavits:

John Aaron Morris, 27, was charged with indecent assault and open lewdness after he made unwanted advances toward one of the women on a park bench at Bicentennial Park near the river.

Bryce Dale Southwick, 24, was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault. A 15-year-old girl alleged Southwick forced her to perform oral sex, police said.

The alleged victims told police they met the men about a week ago and talked with them on the phone. As they were walking around downtown gathering job applications Saturday evening, the men followed them, the females told police.

The men were arraigned by McMahon, but bail information wasn’t available Sunday night.
