GREENVILLE

The second annual Greenville Heritage Day is set for July 4 with activities and exhibits planned for the downtown area, local museums, Riverside Park and Thiel College.

More than 2,000 people attended last year’s event, which featured crafting exhibits, interactive demonstrations of colonial chores, historical presentations and music, Fred Kiser, chairman of the planning committee, said in a news release.

Heritage Day also highlights the Greenville Museum Alliance, which maintains Waugh House, Canal Museum and Greenville Railroad Park and Museum.

New to this year’s event will be a classic car cruise-in on Main Street, a 5K run through town and a World War II-style USO show and social at Thiel.

’Heritage Day is unique because it encompasses the whole town,’ said John Kokoski, chairman of the Museum Alliance.

Shuttle service will be available to travel to the different sites.

The planning committee has also received a marketing grant from Visit Mercer County PA to help promote the event. They’re looking to partner with media outlets within a 100-mile radius of Greenville, Kiser said.

The grant is awarded to fairs and festivals to attract visitors from other counties, which positively impacts the local economy, he said.

For more information, contact Kiser at 724-588-5469 or fakiser44@verizon.net
