A Grove City teen died Tuesday from injuries sustained in a crash Monday afternoon in Pine Township.

Adam L. Snyder, 19, of 201 Garden Ave., died at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, a spokesman for the Trumbull County Coroner’s office said Wednesday morning.

He said officials had not yet ruled on the cause of Snyder’s death.

A 2009 graduate of Grove City High School and Mercer County Career Center, Snyder worked at Montgomery Truss Co. in Grove City, according to obituary information.

Snyder was a passenger in a car driven by Tim Baker, 18, of Grove City, when it wrecked at 12:41 p.m. Monday on Irishtown Road about 0.3 mile south of Cranberry Road, state police said.

The car was speeding north when it went over a hill and became airborne for about 100 feet before it hit the road with its undercarriage, went off the east berm and hit a tree, breaking in half and traveling another 150 feet before it stopped, police said.

Snyder suffered severe injuries and was flown to St. E’s. A spokeswoman for the hospital Wednesday morning said he was still listed in critical condition though police and the coroner confirmed he had died Tuesday.

Baker was taken to Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, for moderate injuries and then flown to St. E’s where he was treated.

Police said it was unknown if Baker was wearing a seatbelt; Snyder was not wearing one.

As of Wednesday afternoon Baker had not been cited or charged with anything in relation to the crash, staff at the Pine Township District Judge’s office said.
