The owner of a West Middlesex truck repair and towing shop charged with buying a truck he knew had been stolen will face the charges in court.
Troy R. Preston, 47, of 3341 Hubbard-West Middlesex Road, Shenango Township, was charged by state police with receiving stolen property and altered vehicle identification number.
District Judge Ronald E. Antos, Farrell, held the charges for court at a preliminary hearing Tuesday. Preston was released on his own recognizance.
The truck was reported stolen June 11, 2007, to Youngstown police. State police said they learned of the truck’s whereabouts, and Preston admitted he had bought the truck and knew it had been stolen.
Preston also provided fraudulent VIN and federal identification numbers to be put on the truck, police said.
Preston owns Preston America, 3479 Sharon Road.
