I.C. Electric pays bill, asks to dismiss suit

SHARPSVILLE

A Sharpsville electrical contractor denied that it owed anything to the electrical workers union, but has paid in full what money the union said was owed.

I.C. Electric, 101 Canal St., also said the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union 712 reneged on a promise to withdraw a suit based on the payment.

The union and its trust fund sued I.C. Electric in May for allegedly failing to make timely or complete contributions for benefits based on employees’ hours of service for August through November, February and March.

The union did not say in its suit filed in U.S. District Court, Pittsburgh, how much the company owed.

I.C. Electric said it paid the bill plus costs and attorney’s fees on June 26. While the union accepted the payment, it has not settled or discontinued the suit, the company said.

I.C. Electric is asking a federal judge to dismiss the suit as moot because of the payment.
