Housing authority Wednesday:
• Accepted bids for additions and alterations to the Frank Fay Terrace Community Center in Pymatuning Township from these contractors: VendRick Construction Inc., Brookville, Ohio, as general contractor at $288,400; Central Heating and Plumbing, Sharon, as heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor at $19,933 and as plumbers at $23,467; Donatelli Inc., Sharpsville, as electricians at $66,725; and Amark Environmental, Erie, to remove asbestos at $6,100.
The center was built about 30 years ago and the renovations will include a kitchen, meeting room, resource center and laundry, which will all meet accessibility requirements.
• Approved a bid from M&C Construction, Farrell, for concrete repairs to balconies at Vermeire Manor, Sharon, for $25,000 pending input from the solicitor and completion of paperwork in the bid packet.
• Heard from Executive Director L. DeWitt Boosel about proposals from architects for plans to renovate apartments in the Mesabi Street complex in Sharon. The low bid accepted was from Habiterra Architects for $89,000.
Sharpsville
School board Monday:
• Accepted intent to retire from family and consumer science teacher Carol Connelly and middle school health and physical education teacher Jayne Csonka at the end of the school year. Ms. Csonka had originally intended to retire after the first semester.
• Accepted a resignation from middle school guidance counselor Melinda Isles effective no later than Oct. 27.
• Hired Frank Galati of Sharon as middle school guidance counselor. His salary and start date are undetermined.
Sharon
School board Monday:
• Approved allowing the YMCA in Hermitage to use the district pool facilities for swimming pograms until June 30 for $3,000.
• Rescinded the August hiring of Chad Goodman as secondary technology education teacher.
