About 3,800 customers in Sharon and Farrell were without electricity Friday afternoon, said Pennsylvania Power Co. area manager Tony Zucco.
A downed line on Ohio Street in Sharon was the root of the problem, Zucco said. An equipment failure dropped the line at about 12:30 p.m., he said. Power was back on for 2,000 customers by 1:15 p.m.; the rest were up and running by 3:40.
Zucco did not know Friday afternoon what caused the equipment failure.
Penn Power workers rerouted electricity to get people back online, and began work on fixing the downed line Friday evening, Zucco said.
The outage caused some slowdowns on major roads, including Connelly Boulevard where motorists tentatively crept through intersections because traffic lights weren’t working.
