MERCER — A Mercer couple has been charged following a ruckus at home in which he claimed she had stabbed him with a steak knife, but later admitted he stabbed himself, police said.
Mercer police said they were called at 10:39 p.m. Nov. 27 to an apartment at 207 Cunningham St., for a domestic dispute. When they arrived, Shawn D. Rockenfelder, 22, was bleeding, and Ashley N. Dora, 19, was naked, police said.
The couple said they had had a party but started arguing after the affair broke up.
Rockenfelder held Dora down, put his hands over her mouth and punched her in the face, police said.
He claimed Dora went into the kitchen, got a steak knife and stabbed him several times, but Dora said he stabbed himself and told her he was going to blame her for it, police said.
Rockenfelder later admitted to stabbing himself, police said.
Police said they also found bags of marijuana, a pipe and bongs in the apartment.
Rockenfelder was charged Thursday with unlawful restraint, simple assault, reckless endangerment, false report, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, harassment and disorderly conduct.
He was arraigned by District Judge Lorinda L. Hinch, Mercer, who released him on his own recognizance and set a preliminary hearing for 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Dora was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and underage drinking. She has been sent a summons to appear in court.
