SHARON — A Sharon teen is dead and another man is facing a homicide charge after a shooting early Sunday inside a house on Strawbridge Avenue, police said.

Leangelo Ford, 17, died at about 2 a.m. Sunday in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System.

Police were dispatched to the hospital at 12:07 a.m., when Leangelo sought treatment for a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was a sophomore at Sharon High School and was on the basketball team there.

Authorities arrested Jontae Maurice Barnes, 19, of 381 Liberty St., Sharon, at about 12:15 a.m. near Prindle Street and Edgewood Road in the city.

Barnes was arraigned by District Judge Brian Arthur, Greenville, on a single count of criminal homicide. Arthur set bail at $200,000 and Barnes was taken to Mercer County Jail, according to online court documents.

Mercer County Coroner J. Bradley McGonigle ordered an autopsy on Ford to determine the cause and manner of the teen’s death.
