Crash on Interstate 80 kills driver, injures passenger

One Sharon man was killed  and another man was hurt in a one-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Interstate 80 in Shenango Township.

The crash happened at about 3:25 p.m. Saturday near mile marker six of the highway, a Mercer County 911 supervisor said.

Shenango Township Fire Chief Bill Williams said a van that was westbound went into the median and “rolled I don’t know how many times,” coming to rest in the eastbound lanes of travel.

The road was closed for about an hour while responders cleaned up the scene.

The driver, Karl Magee, 44, of Sharon, was killed. His passenger, Darren Millhoff, 35, also of Sharon, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Youngstown, state police said.

Neither man wore a seatbelt, police said.
