FARRELL — Drug agents hoped Annette Y. Montague would show up Thursday at the preliminary hearing of her husband, Leroy Montague III, so they could arrest her.

She did and they did.

The charges against the Montagues stem from a Feb. 4 search of their home at 253 Hamilton Ave., Farrell. Mercer County Drug Task Force said 4.3 ounces of cocaine was found.

Leroy Montague, 44, stipulated at his preliminary hearing that prosecutors could show a crime occurred and he might have been involved, allowing charges of possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and conspiracy to commit all those charges to proceed to Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

District Judge Ronald E. Antos, Farrell, reduced Montage’s bond from $150,000 to $50,000, and Montague was returned to jail.

Annette Y. Montague, 49, was arraigned on the same offenses and released after posting bond. Her preliminary hearing was set for 1 p.m. Feb. 27 before Antos.

The task force obtained a sealed search warrant, keeping the affidavit that lists their evidence needed to obtain it out of public view.

The criminal complaints against the Montagues say drug agents found a gallon storage bag on the bedroom floor containing three equal-sized bags of cocaine. The total weight of the drug was 3 ounces, agents said.

A small amount of crack cocaine was found in Leroy Montague’s coat pocket.

In the kitchen, agents found two bags of cocaine – containing seven-tenths of an ounce and four-tenths of an ounce – baggie corners, in which cocaine often is packaged; digital scales; a glass measuring cup; and baking soda, which often is combined with cocaine in making crack, they said.

Montague acknowledged on his bond sheet that he is addicted to drugs.
