- — Two arrested after police find growing operation

MASURY – Brookfield police said they arrested two people Friday after they discovered a marijuana growing operation with 24 plants in various stages of growth.

Police said they were called at 11:45 p.m. to 1413 Stevenson St. with a report of a domestic dispute. They found resident Abby M. Pettitt, 26, and her boyfriend, Louis Vivo IV, 30, of 309 Malleable St., Sharon.

Having had dealings with Vivo in the past, police asked if there were any drugs in the house, and Pettitt gave police consent to search, police said.

Police said they found a portable closet containing the plants. They also found a bucket of stems and leaves, grow lights, vent hoses, power supplies and other items, police said.

Pettitt also told police there was a basket containing drug paraphernalia, including needles, scales and pipes, in the bedroom, police said.

Vivo and Pettitt each were charged with cultivation of marijuana and possession of drug abuse instruments., police said.

Woman says man robbed her at knifepoint of $19

FARRELL – Southwest Mercer County Regional police said they are investigating a strong-armed robbery in Farrell that resulted after the victim made a “friendly gesture” to the perpetrator.

The incident occurred at 11:36 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 200 block of Florida Street.

“The female victim stated she had invited a male subject she had just met to her home as a friendly gesture,” said Police Chief Riley Smoot Jr.

The woman offered the man a beer, police said.

The man attacked the woman, punching her several times in the face, threatening her with a knife and stealing $19 from her, police said.

The woman refused treatment of her injuries, police said.
