HERMITAGE —

One man was shot early Saturday morning after a fight in the 1400 block of Parke Drive in Hermitage, police said.

The man, whom police didn’t identify, was treated at UPMC Horizon, Farrell, for a gunshot wound to his upper arm.

According to witnesses, the shooting happened after a group of three young men approached another male outside his apartment building.

“Words were exchanged,” between the men and a gun was drawn by one of the group of three men.

The lone male, who ultimately was shot, was first pistol-whipped with the gun. He retreated to a nearby apartment and returned with friends, police said.

The man and his friends went outside and ultimately confronted the group of three men who initially confronted the alleged victim, police said.

Two of these males had handguns, police said.

They put the guns on the ground as if to begin fight with the other group, but  one of the males picked his gun up and began to fire it, according to police.

The other group fled as between three and four shots were fired, police said.

One of the shots apparently struck the victim in the arm.

Police were releasing no names about the incident on Saturday.

Those involved were reported to be three young black males who were thought to be 17 or 18 years old, police said.
