SANDY LAKE —
State police said alcohol was involved in a Thursday morning crash that claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman.
Amanda D. Jones, of Hendersonville Road, Sandy Lake, was speeding on Main Street in Sandy Lake at 2:35 a.m. when her car went off the road, police said.
Police said they saw no signs that the brakes were used before the 1993 BMW went up a grassy embankment, hit a tree, went over a sidewalk, then hit a 2è-foot stone wall.
The car jumped the wall and Ms. Jones, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car, police said.
The car and driver ended up on the front lawn of Jud’s Beauty Shop at 3331 N. Main St.
Ms. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:12 a.m. by Mercer County Deputy Coroner Robert L. Snyder, who ruled the death accidental due to a head injury.
