SHENANGO TOWNSHIP —
Shelly Morrison’s neighbors saw smoke, then fire, Friday afternoon when Morrison’s Shenango Township home was destroyed in a fire.
A West Middlesex volunteer firefighter said she saved a cat from the blaze, and dogs in kennels behind the house, located at 669 Bedford Road, appeared unharmed.
The fire started around 4 p.m. and spread quickly, witnesses said.
Firefighters from Shenango Township, West Middlesex, Wheatland and Pulaski Township, Lawrence County, worked the fire, which spread throughout the one-story, partially brick home.
“I saw smoke, I said, ‘Hey Ellen, there’s smoke coming out of the house.’,” Robert Cross said he told his wife.
The Crosses knew Morrison and said she lived in the home with her boyfriend.
Morrison was treated at the scene by paramedics and Shenango Township Fire Chief Bill Williams said no one else appeared to be hurt in the blaze.
“The police just got her out of the house and it just went up in flames,” Cross said.
