Man faces 137 drug charges

GREENVILLE — A Greenville man already on probation for drug violations is facing a new laundry list of charges after his parole agent found suspected heroin at his home, which is within 1,000 feet of Greenville High School.

Alfred E. Hammons, 31, of 27 1/2 E. Stewart Ave., was charged Wednesday after a parole agent called Greenville-West Salem Township police at about 1 p.m. last Tuesday to assist them at Hammons’ home.

A syringe loaded with suspected heroin was found, along with 19 aluminum foil packages containing doses of the drug and a sandwich-size bag with more suspected heroin in it, police said.

Authorities also found 75 insulin syringes, two spoons with suspected heroin residue, two digital scales, two glass pipes, a large syringe, two cell phones, four silver coins, a Twix tin, and $400 in a backpack with a safe inside at Hammons’ home, according to court papers.

Hammons and an unnamed and uncharged woman were at the home, which is close to Greenville High School, police said.

“Officer Bish, it’s all mine,” Hammons told policeman Dennis Bish, according to court papers. “I messed up again, I just can’t beat this lifestyle.

“I can’t trust anyone anymore. Damn junkies,” Hammons told Bish, according to court papers.

Police filed these charges against Hammons: one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin; 21 counts of possession of a controlled substance; and 115 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The paraphernalia charges include one count for each syringe found.

Hammons was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $50,000 bail.
