Woman nabbed, sister sought in assault

SHENANGO VALLEY — Southwest Mercer County Regional police have arrested a Hermitage woman for breaking into a home in Farrell and beating a woman and are seeking the alleged assailant’s sister.

Breawna L. Lyons, 22, of 1515 Parke Drive, Hermitage, was arrested Monday on charges of burglary, aggravated assault and intimidation of a witness.

Her sister, Brandy Lyons, 21, of 635 Fruit Ave., Farrell, is wanted on the same charges.

Police said they were called at 7 a.m. April 3 to a home in the 1000 block of Washington Street, where a woman reported that the Lyons sisters had broken into her home and beat her up.

The victim said she was sleeping when she heard pounding on a door. When she answered it, Breawna Lyons forced her way in, knocked her to the ground, got on top of her and hit her, police said.

Breawna Lyons tried to pull the woman’s eyes out, police said.

The victim’s sister, who was five months pregnant, pushed Breawna Lyons off the victim and started fighting with her, police said.

Brandy Lyons entered the home and kicked the victim in the face and ribs, police said.

Police allege the attack was an attempt to get the victim not to testify in another case against Breawna Lyons, police said.

Breawna Lyons was charged with criminal mischief for cracking the windshield of a car with a hammer, breaking off two mirrors and flattening a tire at 7:28 a.m. March 7 in the 1000 block of Washington, police said.

Breawna Lyons was arraigned by District Judge Ronald E. Antos, Farrell, and taken to jail for failing to post bond. Her preliminary hearings in both cases were set for 11:30 a.m. April 22.
