Police investigating Hermitage PTO

HERMITAGE — Hermitage police are investigating the Hermitage Parent-Teacher Organization.

"We are investigating some missing funds from the PTO," Police Chief Brian Blair said Monday.

Police began the probe last week and the investigator has more people to interview, he said.

"We are getting cooperation from the PTO," Blair said.

No one has been charged.

The PTO bylaws say it supports the education of children by fostering relationships with schools, parents and teachers.

It works within the elementary and middle schools to raise money for student activities, working closely with school officials to identify needs and organize programs.

Past activities have included Harvest Hope, a program to provide Thanksgiving dinners for needy families; the Angel Tree program to provide gifts at Christmastime; and Halloween parties at Orange Village and Shenango Park apartments.
