Sharon Police Department added two patrolmen this year, one hired in January and the other last week.
Daniel Patrick McEvoy and Andrew Paul O’Shall bring both police education and experience to the force, Lt. Gerald T. Smith, patrol commander, said.
McEvoy, 25, graduated at the top of his class in December 2011 from Mercyhurst Municipal Academy, Erie.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Pennsylvania State University, University Park.
McEvoy previously worked 10 months for Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Department.
O’Shall, 27, graduated in the top five of his class at Indiana University of Pennsylvania Police Academy. He earned his bachelor’s in criminology at IUP.
O’Shall had previous experience with the Venango County Sheriff’s Office and Venango County Jail.
Under the city’s labor contract with the Fraternal Order of Police, starting pay for a patrolman is $32,864.
The hirings raise the department complement to 26 policemen and Chief Mike Menster.
