PULASKI — Two members of an Amish family are dead and a third seriously injured after a crash Saturday in Wilmington Township.

Mercer County Coroner J. Bradley McGonigle III said the family’s buggy, westbound on Mercer-Pulaski Road, was hit from behind by the cab of a tractor-trailer.

McGonigle said he had no information on the truck driver.

He wouldn’t identify the victims but said a 34-year-old woman and her 10-year-old daughter were pronounced dead at the scene at 5:50 p.m.

The victims died of blunt force trauma, McGonigle said, ruling the deaths accidental.

The 35-year-old man driving the buggy was flown from the scene to the trauma center at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngs-town, McGonigle said. A hospital spokeswoman told the Associated Press that the man’s condition was still being evaluated Saturday night and she did not have an update.

State police in Mercer had no information on the crash on state Route 468.
