Fire destroys mobile home

WEST SALEM TOWNSHIP — A mobile home with an addition was burned almost to the ground Friday night when firefighters arrived.

Alvin Miller and his son, who live at 41 S. Summit Road, West Salem Township, were outside working at about 8:30 p.m. When they went back in, they saw rolling flames in the mobile home part of the residence.

“We suspect it was accidental but we haven’t determined the cause yet,” Assistant Fire Chief Bill Brown said. “It was too far gone.”

Miller and his son ran to a neighbor’s house and called Mercer County 911. There was insurance on the home.

The Red Cross was called to assist the Millers.

Firefighters from Transfer, Greenville and Hempfield Township, and Pymatuning Township fire police assisted.
