Clarence ‘Butch’ Kasbee

Meadville businessman belonged to SL church

- — He was born Aug. 16, 1954, in Grove City, a son of Thomas A. and Margaret L. Schell Kasbee.

He married Jeanne Elaine Williams on June 10, 1978. She survives.

Butch graduated from Lakeview High School in 1972 then went on to graduate from Grove City College in 1976.

Butch owned Yesterday’s News in Meadville from 1976-1981. He then opened the Travel Experience of 255 Chestnut St. in 1982 and Tub Liners Unlimited of 255 Chestnut St. in 2008. Both are currently operating in Meadville.

He was a member of Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church, Meadville.

He was a lifetime member of the Order of Merlin of Youngstown; and a  member of Elks Lodge 219; Shenango Valley Masonic Lodge 810, Hermitage; the Chamber of Commerce; and the Downtown Business Association.

He had also served four years on city council.

He enjoyed emceeing and participating in both Meadville and Titusville Follies.

He was an avid golfer, loved to travel and especially loved the ocean. He was very proud of his saltwater fish tanks. He was an outdoors enthusiast from an early age. He enjoyed the time he spent detailing his cars and was often seen walking his dalmatians around town.                     

He is survived by: his wife of 35 years, Jeanne W. Kasbee, Meadville; a daughter, Diana Turrisi and her husband, TJ, Meadville; two sons, David Kasbee, Meadville; and Darren Kasbee and his wife, Chrissy, Pittsburgh; a grandchild, Kendall Rae Kasbee; his parents, Thomas A. and Margaret Schell Kasbee, Sandy Lake; two sisters, Sheila Martin and her husband Timothy of Gulfport, Miss.; and Susan Criss and her husband, Michael, Collegeville.

He is further survived by three nephews, Joshua Martin of Gulfport; Ethan Criss, Washington state; and Elliot Criss of Ashville, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
