Avid gardener, Mr. Fix-it worked at Sharon Steel


---- — A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. J.C. Green will be held at noon Wednesday (4-24-13) in Friendship Baptist Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald Campbell officiating.

Mr. Green departed this life Friday (4-19-13) at his home in Farrell. He was 68 years old.

Affectionately known to his family and friends as “John Crawford,” Mr. Green was born Aug. 17, 1945, in Warrenton, Ga., a son of Otis and Magnolia Moss Green. He came to the Shenango Valley many years ago.

He was employed as a welder with the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant.

He was a loving father and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was a practical joker, avid gardener and was referred to as the “family fix-it man.” His caring and loving personality will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, Johnny (Jodi) Green, Mesa, Ariz.; Wayne (Jean) Green, Laneka and Demaun Green, all Farrell; his loving sisters, Naomi Green  and Emmagene Williams, both Farrell; and Annie Wise, Sharon; his loving sister-in-law, Norine Green, Sharon; his loving brother, Bruce (Paulette) Green, Boston; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Pearl Brown; his brothers, Willie, Joseph and Roosevelt Green; and a nephew, Otis Brown.
