---- — Anne M. Winslow of John XXIII Home, Hermitage, formerly of Service Avenue, Sharon, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday (4-23-13) in John XXIII Home of natural causes. She was 95.

Mrs. Winslow was born July 11, 1917, in Vintondale, Pa., a daughter of John and Mary Stoyka Mehalko.

She was raised in Sharon and attended Sharon schools.

Anne retired in 1982 from what was then Sharon General Hospital’s School of Nursing, where she was a housemother for students of the nursing program. Previously she worked for several families as a private caregiver in their homes.

Mrs. Winslow was a former member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon; and a current member of St. Joseph’s Church, also Sharon, and its Women’s Guild.

She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and the flowers that adorned her home. She spent countless hours knitting for her family and will be remembered for the many afghans she knitted with love.

Her husband, Edward A. Winslow Sr., whom she married Sept. 12, 1940, passed away Oct. 3, 1970.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen A. Brown, Hermitage; four sons, Edward A. Winslow Jr., Sharon; Lawrence J. Winslow, Centennial, Colo.; Thomas N. Winslow, Lakeland, Fla.; and Gary M. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Efler and Helen Aaron; four brothers, Charles, John, Michael and Stephen Mehalko; and a son-in-law, Bill Brown.

Her family suggests that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in her name to please consider Sharon Regional Health System Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Road; or John XXIII Home, 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, both Hermitage, PA 16148.
