James E. ‘Jim’ Leax

LPN was firefighter, enjoyed woodworking


- — Jim was born Jan. 13, 1947, in Jackson Center to Paul and Betty Palmer Leax, who are deceased.

He was affiliated with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Greenville.

Jim was a graduate of Lakeview High School. He was a volunteer firefighter for departments in Jackson Center, Polk and Hempfield Township.

He was a licensed practical nurse for UPMC Horizon.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors, and expressed it through hunting, camping, and woodworking. He loved spending time with his family, especially playing with his granddaughter, Serena.

Jim is survived by: his wife Patricia S. Mattson Leax, at home. They were married Jan. 16, 1982.

Also surviving are: his daughter, Michelle Leax, and his granddaughter,  Serena Leax, both at home; and several uncles and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
