John Longiotti

Letter carrier belonged to Christian Assembly

- — John was born in Hartstown on July 30, 1934, to Alessandro and Maria Donato Sbrocchi Longiotti.

He was a 45-year member of Christian Assembly Church, 111 Main St. Greenville, which he served as a treasurer and trustee for 30 years.

He was a 1952 graduate of Pymatuning-Jamestown High School. From 1954 to 1958, he was an Airman First Class for the United States Air Force.

He worked for Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad in Greenville and from 1965 to 1983, he was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Greenville.

He was also a service technician from 1983 to 1999 at the post office in New Castle.

John enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was a sports fan, and especially liked to watch football, baseball, and hockey. He loved crossword puzzles.

Once a month, he met with the Pymatuning-Jamestown High School Alumni Breakfast Club in Jamestown. Every morning, he would meet friends at the local McDonald’s for coffee. He was very social and active.

John is survived by: his wife, Peggy Louise Harpst Longiotti, whom he married July 20, 1957, at home; a son, Doug Longiotti and his wife Dee, Painesville, Ohio; two daughters, Darla Somerville and her husband Dennis, West Sunbury, Pa.; and Vicki Vamosi and her husband Steve, Sharpsville; five sisters, Josephine Wilson, Texas; Ruth Brown, Minnesota; Teresa Longiotti, South Carolina; Rose Brockelhurst, Meadville; and Natalie Knopp, Aurora, Ohio; a twin brother Pete Longiotti, Greenville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frankie Longiotti, and two sisters, Mary Radicella and Florence Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Assembly Church, 111 Main St. Greenville, PA 16125.


John, 79, of 165 Oniontown Road, Delaware Township.
