Carpenter retired from Western-Southern Life

- — Frank E. Babich Jr., Austintown, Ohio, formerly of Brookfield, passed from this life unto his new life at 5:26 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, while surrounded by the love of his family as a patient in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, following a period of declining health. He was 72.

Frank was born in Youngstown on Dec. 30, 1940, a son of Frank E. and Vivian E. Van Meter Babich, Sr.

A 1959 graduate of Hubbard High School, he was a self-employed carpenter. He had also worked as a sales representative for Western-Southern Life Insurance Co., from which he retired.

He was a member of the Austintown AARP chapter and the senior center in Austintown.

A talented singer and guitar player, Frank shared his gift as a member of the Stephen Foster Chorus, Warren, Ohio.

In his spare time, he enjoyed cheering on the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. But most of all, Frank loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include: his companion, Trisha A. Miller, Austintown; his son, Curt D. Babich, Hermitage; his daughters, Luwonda Spotts and her husband Rick, Brookfield; Christa Leigh Coupland, Sharon; Deanna Dee Babich, Phoenix; and Kimberly Ann Rock and her husband Nick, Hubbard; his sister, Helen Marie Houtz, Brookfield; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Brenda, Lauren, Tony, Rebekah, Chad, Brienna and Abagail; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two wives, Sharon Brogley Babich, whom he married Aug. 7, 1986, and who died April 4, 1995; and Madelyn M. Carsone Babich, whom he married June 26, 1981, and who died March 20, 1986.
