Mr. Platt was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Leechburg, a son of Chuck and Marion McGuire Platt.
Bert was a 1957 graduate of Freeport High School.
He was honorably discharged from U.S. Army in 1962.
Mr. Platt retired in 2004 after 30 years of driving tractor trailer to Pittsburgh for Dean Foods.
Bert was an active member of Calvary Fellowship Chapel, where he served as the bus director, deacon, and taught adult and youth Sunday school.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Most importantly he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He married his high school sweetheart, Janice Simcik Platt, on Sept. 5, 1959.
Surviving are: a daughter, Michelle Lorraine Koprivnak and her husband Scott of Hermitage; two sons, John Beaver Platt and his wife Amber of Mercer and Chuck Shane Platt and his wife Charity of Juneau, Alaska; a sister, Patricia Snyder of Leechburg; 10 grandchildren, Megan Carter, Zachariah Carter, John Koprivnak, Abigail Koprivnak, Katie Platt, Victoria Bauder, Sydney Drake, Vinnie Sletvold, Helene Platt and Loren Platt.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Baptist Church.
