Paul Dobler

Sharon Steel retiree active in church was immigrant


- — MARS, Butler County – Paul Dobler of St. John’s Specialty Care Center, 500 Wittenberg Way, Mars, formerly of 2065 Madison St., Hermitage, passed away peacefully at 3:50 a.m. Thursday (1-9-14) in the care center. He was 82.

Mr. Dobler was born Oct. 22, 1931, in Krndia, Yugoslavia, a son of Wendelin and Katherine Grosseibl Dobler.

He was educated in Europe and immigrated to the United States in 1952.

Paul retired in 1991 from the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant where he worked as a crane operator for 40 years.

He was an active member of St. Anthony’s Church in Sharon, where he enjoyed singing with the choir.

Proud of his German heritage, he was a longtime member of the Apollo-Maenerchor Club, Sharon.

His first wife, the former Anna Schwab, whom he married May 30, 1953, preceded him in death July 16, 1990. His current wife, the former Hildegard Schmidt, whom he married Sept. 14, 1991, survives in Cranberry Township, Butler County.

He leaves: his daughter, Christine Luchette and her husband Gary, Grove City; and his son, Robert Dobler and his wife Shirley, Cochranton; a stepdaughter, Rosemarie Schmidt and her husband Dennis Gruber, Baden, Beaver County; two stepsons, Ron Schmidt and his wife Rhonda, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Frank Schmidt and his wife Deborah, Clark; and a brother, Karl Dobler and his wife Anna, Hermitage.

Also surviving are his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, Anna, he was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rosalinda Dekanich; a son, Phillip Dobler; a sister, Maria Mireiter; and a brother, Johann Pioker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Catholic Hospice & Palliative Services, 6200 Brooktree Road, Wexford, PA 15090.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday (1-14-14) in St. Anthony’s Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, Order of Friars Minor, pastor of St. Stephen Parish, Franklin, and former pastor of St. Anthony’s Church, as celebrant.

Interment: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage.
