Vina Belle Hartman Caldwell

GC woman was diner cook, did yard sales


- — Vina Belle Hartman Caldwell of North Broad Street, Grove City, passed away Thursday, Jan 9, 2014, in Trinity Living Center, Grove City. She was 90.

Mrs. Caldwell was born March 20, 1924, in Volant to Harry Anthony and Harriet Wilson Hartman.

Her husband, Raymond Ambrose Caldwell, whom she married in 1944, preceded her in death in 1971.

She was a graduate of the former Eastbrook High School, Lawrence County.

For 15 years, she was a cook at Grove City Diner.

Mrs. Caldwell was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and attending yard sales.

Surviving are: a daughter, Patricia Ann James, Grove City; three sons, James E. “Ed” Caldwell and his wife Marilyn, Erie; William W. Caldwell and his wife Cheryl, Grove City; and Donald Lee Caldwell and his wife Cheryl, Mercer; a sister, Violet Buchanan, New Wilmington; a stepbrother, Frank Bronson, New Castle; and nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren, Alex, Wendy and Stephen Caldwell; a sister, Irene Barcheck; and two brothers, Bob and Tony Hartman.

Calling hours: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday (1-12-14) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME OF LEESBURG, 1778 Perry Highway, Springfield Township.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday (1-13-14) in the funeral home.

Interment: Carpenter’s Cemetery, Springfield Township.
