Robert ‘Hat Man’ Brodie

S.C. native, hat collector worked at Castings plant


- — A memorial service will be held Tuesday for Robert “Hat Man” Brodie of 455 Spruce Ave., Sharon. He passed away Tuesday evening (1-7-14) in his home. He was 64 years old.

Mr. Brodie was born Sept. 30, 1949, in Cheraw, S.C., to Christine Brodie and came to Farrell as an infant.

He attended Farrell schools and was employed by the former National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp., Sharon.

Robert was a collector of hats and loved German shepherd dogs.

Surviving are: a sister, Stella “Bea” and her husband Walter Butler; two sons, Robert “Stink” Brodie and his companion Jeanna Schmidt; and Corey Brodie and his fiancée Nicole Smith; two daughters, Crissina “Pig” Hilton and Requanda Brodie; and a host of grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He will be sadly missed by his companion, Marci Redmond, and friend, Marsha Shannonhouse.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Brodie; a son, Brian Brodie; and his dad, Willie Scott.

Service: Memorial service at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Russell V. Penn Jr., pastor, officiating.

Interment: Cremation.
