Juanita Audeen Tyson Dorogy, formerly of Washington Street, Farrell, went to heaven at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage. She was 87.
Mrs. Dorogy was born Oct. 23, 1926, in Denver to Harry and Josephine Perkins Tyson.
Juanita graduated in 1944 from Golden (Colo.) High School.
At one time, Juanita was employed as a telephone operator.
She also worked at a movie theater selling tickets. That is where she met the love of her life, Joseph John Dorogy who was in the Army. They were married May 26, 1946; he went to heaven Feb. 26, 1996.
Juanita belonged to the Neighborhood Block Club and was in a bowling league at Sunset Lanes, both Farrell.
Juanita loved to garden, can food, cook, bake, crochet, knit and sew. She loved sitting outside on her back porch on her swing when the weather was nice.
She was a Farrell and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She loved when people came to visit her and loved children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Juanita is survived by: her son and caregiver, Ronald L. Dorogy Sr. and his wife Darlene, Stoneboro; sons, Joseph Dorogy Jr., Kentucky; and David Dorogy, Pennsylvania; and a daughter, Barbara Smith, Ohio.
She also leaves: 12 grandchildren, Ronald Dorogy Jr. and Christopher Dorogy, both Farrell; Sandra Calza, Pittsburgh; Joseph Dorogy, Brookfield; April Dorogy, Kentucky; Michael Meszaros; David Dorogy; Deanna Schohl; Brittanny, Melissa, Beth and Justin; and great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Suzanne and Daniel Dorogy, all Farrell; Zachary and Chase Dorogy, both Fredonia; Damien and Lillian Dorogy, both Sharon; and several other great-grandchildren.
She also leaves her former daughter-in-law, Darlene Utterback, Farrell; several nieces and nephews; and her friend and caregiver, Becky Mosley, West Middlesex.
Besides her husband, Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James; a grandson, Jonathan Dorogy; her sister, Toni Corbitt; and her great-great-granddaughter, Saphire Marie Dorogy.
