LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Trumbull County —
John Thomas Muldowney of Liberty Township, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, in Briarfield Manor of Austintown, Ohio, after a short illness. He was 74.
Mr. Muldowney was born Dec. 14, 1939, in Sharon, a son of Paul and Thelma Prendergast Muldowney.
John worked for Wheatland Tube Co. for 31 years.
Mr. Muldowney served his country in the U.S. Navy abound the USS Galveston from 1957 to 1960.
In his younger days, John was an avid hunter and bowler. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: two daughters, Yvette Wasko and her husband John, Liberty; and Justine Muldowney and her fiancé Andrew Munera and his daughter, Peyton, Canfield, Ohio. He also leaves four grandchildren: Emma, Ellie, Olivia and Andrew; and his four-legged friend, Tootsie Roll. He also leaves his former wife, Martha Muldowney, Liberty; his caregiver, Patti Hedwall; a sister, Alice Reiner, Sharon; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul; and four sisters, Joanne, Rosalie, Jean and Mary Jane.
John’s family would like to thank all the staff at Northside Medical Center, Hospice House in Poland, Ohio, and also Briarfield Manor in Austintown for the kind and professional care he received.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Animal Charity Humane Society, 4140 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.

Calling hours: Friends and family may call from 9 a.m. to time of service Monday (1-13-14) in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 343 Via Mount Carmel Ave., Youngstown, and are invited to the church social hall for a luncheon following the Mass.
Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Monday in the church with the Monsignor Michael J. Cariglio as celebrant.
