Virginia R. Spangler

VFW auxiliary life member liked sewing, puzzles


- — Mrs. Spangler was born May 15, 1929, in Harrisville to Charles Amilious McKain and Birdie Mae Thompson McKain.

Virginia was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and puzzles. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage.

Surviving are: two daughters, Lynne Marie and her husband Bill Schuller, Hermitage; and Hope Ann and her husband Drew Becker, Baltimore; two sons, Howard A. Spangler III and his wife Charlene, and Dale W. Spangler, all West Middlesex; three grandchildren, Joseph E. Stoner Jr. and his wife Jennifer; Kristie Louise Spangler; and Samantha Hope Lynn Spangler; and two great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard A. Spangler Jr., on April 23, 2002; an infant daughter, in 1956; a son, Daniel Steven Spangler, in 1965; a sister, Kathryn Sparks; and two brothers, Shirl McKain and Lloyd McKain.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (1-15-14) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 3126 Main St., West Middlesex.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday (1-16-14) in the funeral home with the Rev. Gary W. Winemiller, pastor of Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church, West Middlesex, officiating.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
