Westinghouse retiree was avid bowler


- — Dorothy J. Morris, formerly of Sharpsville Avenue, Sharon, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, in Nugent Convalescent Home in Hermitage after an extended illness. She was 87.

Ms. Morris was born June 28, 1926, in Sharon, a daughter of John W. Morris Jr. and June P. Smith Morris.

She was a 1944 graduate of Sharon High School.

Dorothy worked in the photographic department at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., retiring in 1983.

Dorothy had been a member of the Westinghouse Retirees Association. An avid bowler, she was past president and past secretary of the Junior Bowling Association of Mercer County and its Hall of Fame.

She enjoyed playing cards and was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by: her son, Kevin L. Morris and his wife Sharon, Windsor, Va.; a grandson, Shawn Morris and his wife Cheryl, Newport News, Va.; a granddaughter, Stephanie Eckes and her husband Frank, Chesapeake, Va.;  and two great-grandchildren, Paige and Anthony Morris.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Pete, Robert, Jackie and Bill Morris.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514; or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Service: Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday (11-30-13) in HAROLD W. STEVENSON FUNERAL HOME, 264 E. State St., Sharon, with the Rev. John M. Trojak, pastor of First Baptist Church, Sharon, officiating. Condolences to the family may be expressed by visiting
