A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday for Christine M. Radkowski of Avalon Springs, Coolspring Township. With her family by her side, she entered into God’s Kingdom at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was 61.
Miss Radkowski was born Sept. 22, 1951, in Youngstown, a daughter of Frank J. Radkowski Sr. and Margarita E. Taffaria Radkowski.
She attended Sharon High School and, prior to high school, attended the former Sacred Heart Grade School.
Christine retired in 1988 after 20 years assisting in the kitchen at Clepper Manor, Sharon.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon.
Christine was a former chairperson for People Helping People with Disabilities Organization bowling league. She was actively involved at the Older Adult Daycare Center and had spent most of her time since she was a teenager at The Arc of Mercer County, the former MCAR.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidering; anyone who knew her saw the beautiful work she had done.
Christine had a fantastic memory and could recall the birthdates and the sequential order of her 35 first cousins. More importantly, she was a sister, a beautiful woman who had challenges that most of us don’t. We as a family ask that when you encounter individuals with special needs, that you provide them with patience, attention and love, for they are truly children of God.
Surviving are: two sisters, Theresa and her husband Michael Shaw, Columbus, Ohio; and Maire D. “Dede” Radkowski, Sharon; four brothers, Frank J. Radkowski, Lancaster, Pa.; David B. Radkowski and Bruce A. Radkowski, both Sharon; and Mark G. Radkowski, Mercer; two nephews, Frank J. Radkowski III, Alexandria, Va.; and Rainier “CJ” Radkowski, Sharon; and four nieces, Anastasia Leipart, Virgin Islands; Kendra Radkowski, Philadelphia; Kimberly Verrilli, Jacksonville, Fla.; and Kelly Shaw, Columbus.
Christine, you have gone to be with Mom and Dad, and your brother, Alex Radkowski, in heaven. You are complete now. We know you are at peace and we love you. Until we meet again, may God hold you in His loving arms forever.
The family requests that memorial contributions can be made to The Arc of Mercer County 850 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
