Eric Frederick Wilson

Nevada man was active in St. John’s while in Sharon


---- — CARSON CITY, Nev. -- Eric Frederick Wilson of Sharon passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013, in Carson City. He was 83.

A native of Sharon, Mr. Wilson was the third child of Ralph and Helen Frew Wilson, born Jan. 1, 1930.

He graduated from Sharon High School in 1945 and was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Sharon.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Mary Campbell, and a sister, Levina.

He is survived by: four siblings, Charles, Florida; William, Ohio; Nancy, Pennsylvania; and Judy, Texas.

As a youngster, he was attracted to the ministries of St. Barnabas House, North East, Pa., an Episcopal Church Home for disabled men supported by St John’s, and other area churches. As a teen, he took up residence in that home, and in due course, met and married his wife, Mary, in December 1950.

The couple has four children: Brenda, Oregon; Cindy, Nevada; Michael, California; Christopher, Missouri. In addition to his four children, he is survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. After his military service, he worked as a printer until retiring.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, in Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, 14 Veterans Way, Fernley, Nev.
