Paul R. Cirillo of Hermitage passed away at 11:10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, in his residence after a four-month illness. He was 78.
Mr. Cirillo was born Oct. 18, 1934, in Denver, a son of Peter and Pauline Benson Cirillo.
He was a graduate of the former West Sunbury High School in Butler County and completed various banking courses at Penn State University, State College; Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa.; and the Mellon Bank concentrated course in banking. He received a graduate certificate from the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking in 1965.
Paul entered banking in 1954 with Grove City National Bank, which merged with Northwest in 1968. Following the merger, he held positions of manager and installment lending officer with the Grove City office; commercial and mortgage lending officer with the Mercer office; and commercial lending officer at the Meadville office. He then became manager of the Emlenton office until 1973 when he opened the McDowell National Bank in Grove City.
Paul joined Interstate Chemical in 1979 as executive vice president and remained there until his retirement in 2012 at age 77.
Paul was an active member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
He served on the board of directors for the American Institute of Banking, Grove City Community Chest, Boy Scouts of America, Grove City Industrial Development Board and the former Bashline Hospital, Grove City.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Rose M. Pry, whom he married Sept. 24, 1953, in St. Paul’s Church, Butler; six sons, Richard Cirillo and his wife Kathleen, Mercer; Joseph Cirillo, Sharon; William Cirillo and his wife Margaret, Fort Mill, S.C.; Thomas Cirillo and his wife Lori, Hermitage; David Cirillo and his wife Laura, Champion, Ohio; and Ronald Cirillo and his wife Melanie, Orlando, Fla.; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Cirillo, Sharon; a brother, Joseph Cirillo and his wife Pat, Slippery Rock; and a sister, Carla Hart and her husband Alden, Greenville, N.C.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kenneth Cirillo, who passed away in 1999.
Paul was an extremely dedicated worker at everything he did. However, his favorite times were when he and a lot of his family were together at his cottage in the woods.
