A funeral service will be Saturday for Alveria L. Loeffler of Brookfield, formerly of Ashtabula, Ohio. She heard the choir of angels singing as she entered eternal peace at 11:39 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System after a sudden illness. She was 90.
Mrs. Loeffler was born June 17, 1923, in Arnold, Pa., a daughter to Arlington and Hazel George Daughenbaugh.
She graduated in 1941 from New Kensington (Pa.) High School and married Carl F. Loeffler on Christmas Eve in 1944.
Most of her life, Alveria found employment as a secretary. Most recently, she worked for Molded Fiberglass, Ashtabula. She had also been a media clerk for Warren City School District.
Her memberships included North Kingsville Presbyterian Church; Geneva Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, where she was past president; 50-year member of the American Business Woman’s Association; and Amaranth, Rebekah Lodge and Order of Eastern Star, all Ashtabula County. She was very active with the Ashtabula Senior Center.
Her favorite activities were playing bingo, making crafts, sewing, making Halloween costumes, dressing up and playing Mrs. Claus and helping with any kitchen activities at First United Methodist Church of Sharon.
Most of all, she loved being a mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Gwen I. Martino and her husband Dan, Brookfield; her grandchildren, Daniel J. and Alessandra L. Martino; as well as her extended family, whom she loved dearly, the Martinos.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who passed on June 7, 1994; her brothers, Oscar and George Daughenbaugh; and her sisters, Louave Shoemaker and Virginia Daughenbaugh.
As suggested by her, memorial contributions may be made to Ashtabula County Council on Aging, 4632 Main Ave., Ashtabula, OH 44004.
